New Delhi: THDC India Limited, a Mini-Ratna public sector enterprise, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the 72-hour trial run of Unit 1 of the 2x660 MW (1320 MW) Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) on 23 January 2025. This development marks a major step towards the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD) of the unit, furthering THDC's contribution to strengthening India’s power generation capabilities.

 

The trial run, which included all statutory tests, reflects THDC's commitment to delivering advanced and reliable energy solutions. R. K. Vishnoi, CMD of THDC, stated that the achievement goes beyond technical success, symbolising the company’s dedication to enhancing the country’s energy security and capacity. He applauded the efforts of the KSTPP team and reiterated the organisation’s focus on expanding its footprint in the power sector.

 

The Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant, equipped with advanced technologies such as Flue Gas Desulfurisation (FGD) systems, complies with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change guidelines, setting a benchmark for environmentally sustainable thermal power generation.

 

Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), extended congratulations on the achievement, recognising the collective planning, dedication, and relentless efforts of the team. He highlighted that the state-of-the-art facility will address regional power demands while contributing to India’s vision of affordable and uninterrupted power supply.

 

This milestone reinforces THDC’s role in driving sustainable and efficient power generation as part of its mission to meet the growing energy needs of the nation.
