THDCIL achieves major progress in 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydroelectric project

Dehradun: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has marked a significant development in its 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project (VPHEP) with the successful placement of two segments of the draft tube liner for Unit 2 in the power house. This progress represents a crucial step in the installation of electro-mechanical equipment.

Chairperson and Managing Director of THDCIL, R.K. Vishnoi, commended the VPHEP team, led by Ajay Verma, for their dedication and hard work. Speaking on the achievement, he highlighted the organisation's commitment to timely execution and infrastructure excellence. This milestone follows earlier key developments, including the start of concrete placement at the central overflow block of the main dam structure in October 2024, the commencement of concreting for Block 1 in January 2024, and the completion of Block 5 concreting in June 2024.

The Vishnugad-Pipalkoti project is expected to significantly contribute to India’s renewable energy ambitions by harnessing hydropower, a reliable and clean energy source. It aims to address the country’s increasing energy demands while reducing carbon emissions and supporting climate action goals.

THDCIL has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing sustainable development and innovation through projects like VPHEP, which align with India’s vision for a greener energy future. By maintaining high standards of engineering and environmental responsibility, the organisation continues to play a vital role in strengthening the nation’s renewable energy capacity.
