New Delhi: Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, ushering in a new phase of leadership at India’s largest power transmission utility.
A seasoned POWERGRID professional, Burra brings over three decades of experience spanning transmission, large-scale project execution and telecom. Prior to this role, he served as Director (Projects), where he oversaw critical infrastructure expansion across the national grid.
He has also held key positions including COO (Telecom) and CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices, playing a vital role in diversifying the PSU’s portfolio into telecom and digital infrastructure.
His appointment follows a rigorous selection process by the Public Enterprises Selection Board and comes at a time when POWERGRID is central to India’s energy transition. As CMD, Burra is expected to focus on strengthening grid resilience, accelerating green energy corridors, and leveraging digital technologies to modernise transmission systems. His elevation signals continuity in leadership while aligning with the government’s push for a more robust, efficient and future-ready power infrastructure.
