Chandigarh: AGI Infra Ltd, a prominent real estate company, has successfully completed its latest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, focusing on afforestation. The project, which involved establishing two 'Guru Nanak Sacred Forests' at its residential sites on 66ft Road, saw the planting of 10,236 saplings across an area of one acre. These forests were created using the Miyawaki method, a technique renowned for its effectiveness in encouraging rapid tree growth.

The saplings planted include 43 native tree species from Punjab, many of which are endangered. This effort marks AGI Infra Ltd as a pioneering real estate developer in the region to undertake such an extensive afforestation project within its property developments. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the EcoSikh Foundation, a group dedicated to environmental conservation.

During the final planting event, AGI Infra's Managing Director, Dr Sukhdev Singh, along with company officials and EcoSikh Foundation members, celebrated the project's completion. Singh highlighted the significance of integrating environmental sustainability with real estate development, underscoring the importance of ecosystem restoration and climate change mitigation.

The event also featured the presentation of a book titled 'Punjab De Gunakari Naino Jangal' by Jasbir Watanwali to the EcoSikh Foundation. The book offers detailed insights into the 43 tree species introduced in the new forests. /BI
