Delhi Cantonment Board starts Aarambh to support children of construction workers

New Delhi: Delhi Cantonment Board has launched Aarambh, a learning and support centre initiative at Silver Oak School, Delhi Cantonment, on August 26. The programme, launched under the Ministry of Defence, aims to provide free education and healthcare facilities to children of construction labourers working in the Cantonment area.

Children of migrant workers often face disruption in schooling due to their parents’ shifting employment and lack of permanent housing. Aarambh seeks to bridge this gap by offering foundation learning, life skills, and a safe environment to support their development.

The initiative includes enrolling children of construction workers in local schools with free access to quality education, regular health check-ups through tie-ups with local health units, and counselling and nutrition support. It also provides uniforms, shoes, school bags, water bottles, lunch, books, stationery, periodical health check-ups, and transport facilities.

At present, 32 children are benefiting from Aarambh. The Board is working to bring all such children in Delhi Cantonment under the scheme.
