Sonipat: The district administration of Sonipat has signed a five-year agreement with SOS Children’s Villages India to provide care and support to 90 children through the Kinship Care Programme. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan, City Magistrate Anmol, District Child Protection Officer Ritu Gill, and Sumanta Kar, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages India, in the presence of representatives from the organisation.

The partnership will focus on the holistic development of children, ensuring their care, protection, physical and psychosocial well-being, while also enhancing their social skills.

Speaking about the initiative, Sushil Sarwan, Deputy Commissioner of Sonipat, said, “The well-being of children is the foundation of a strong, compassionate society and nation. Through this partnership with SOS Children’s Villages India, we aim to ensure that 90 children in Sonipat grow up in the warmth and security of their extended families under the Kinship Care Programme. This approach not only safeguards their emotional and social development but also preserves their family bonds, cultural roots, and sense of belonging. Together, we are committed to giving these children the care, protection, and opportunities they deserve to build a brighter future.”

Sumanta Kar, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages India, added, “Kinship Care is one of the most effective ways to ensure that vulnerable children can continue to grow up in a familiar environment, surrounded by love, stability, and cultural continuity. This partnership with the District Administration of Sonipat is a significant step towards strengthening the child protection ecosystem and ensuring that no child grows up alone. We are grateful for the trust and collaboration extended to us and remain committed to creating a brighter, more secure future for these children.”
