Patna: Energy and Planning & Development Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav on Tuesday welcomed the union budget allocation, which includes a total outlay of over Rs 60,000 crore for various infrastructure projects for Bihar. These projects encompass funding for three expressways, a 2400MW thermal power plant in Pirpainti, heritage corridors, new airports, and sports facilities. He stated that this budget would act as a catalyst for growth of Bihar.

 

Following the approval of the 2400 MW thermal power plant in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, in the seventh budget speech by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Yadav expressed his gratitude, stating that this project will mark a new chapter in Bihar's development. The Central Government has sanctioned a total of 21,400 crore for this project, demonstrating its serious commitment to Bihar's progress.

 

Yadav further mentioned that the thermal power plant in Pirpainti will greatly benefit the people of Bihar. It will facilitate meeting the electricity needs of Bihar's population and clear the path for the state's development. This project will be crucial for the growth of industries in Bihar and is expected to fulfill the state's power requirements for the next 15-20 years.

 

He noted that the original budget for the proposed power plant by Bihar was Rs 20,000 crore, which has now been increased to Rs 21,400 crore. He expressed heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister for this. He emphasized that considering the increasing demand for electricity in the state, this project is extremely significant.

 

It is noteworthy that the Bihar Energy Department had requested the Union Coal Ministry to approve the establishment of the thermal power center in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, proposed by Coal India. A total of 1020.60 acres of land has been acquired for this project. /BI
