Kolkata: The West Bengal government has issued a directive ordering the immediate termination of tenures of nominated members, directors and chairpersons serving in boards, non-statutory bodies, organisations and public sector undertakings under different state departments.
According to a notification issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department from Nabanna on May 11, all departments have been instructed to take necessary steps to end the appointments of nominated office-bearers functioning under their administrative control.
The order, addressed to Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of all departments, also directs authorities to terminate the re-employment and service extensions granted to officers and officials continuing in service beyond the retirement age of 60 years.
The directive is to be implemented with immediate effect.
The move is expected to impact several state-run bodies and government-linked organisations across West Bengal.
