Chandigarh: The Haryana government has approved contracts and purchases totalling ₹800 crore during a meeting of its High-Powered Purchase Committees. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presided over the meeting, which resulted in several significant decisions, including the installation of rooftop solar power plants on 290 government buildings at a cost of ₹36 crore.

The meeting also finalised an agency for the complete disposal of legacy waste at the Bandhwari landfill site in Gurugram district. The chief minister directed officials to ensure the waste is fully cleared within four months, warning of action against the agency in case of delays.

Among the other projects approved was the purchase of high-pressure suction machines worth ₹13 crore to improve sewer cleaning operations. The Quality Assurance Authority was instructed to monitor project quality, with a focus on timely completion.

Approval was granted to upgrade the Sadhaura community health centre in Yamunanagar district to a 50-bed hospital at an estimated cost of ₹12.50 crore. Additionally, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Bhakra main branch canal from RD 1,15,000 to 1,69,813 were sanctioned at a cost of ₹41 crore. A diaphragm wall downstream of the Hathnikund barrage will also be constructed for ₹146 crore.

In another major decision, the construction of a 12.50 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant for residential colonies in Thanesar town was approved. Following negotiations with bidders, the government saved ₹30 crore across various projects.
