Himachal Pradesh government transfers 15 IPS in major police reshuffle

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 15 IPS officers and 62 HPPS officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) of four administrative districts such as Kangra and two police districts. An official notification to this effect was issued by officiating Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta.

 

According to the notification, Ashok Rattan, a 2015-batch IPS officer serving as SP Nurpur with additional charge of SP Kangra, has been appointed as SP Kangra. Kulbhushan Verma, a 2008-batch HPPS officer and SP, SV and ACB, Mandi Zone, has been transferred as SP, Police District Nurpur.

 

Madan Lal, a 2006-batch HPPS officer and Commandant, Home Guards, 6th Battalion, Mandi, will now serve as SP Kullu. He replaces Dr Karthikeyan Gokulachandran, who has been moved to Police Headquarters, Shimla, as SP (Compulsory Waiting Officer). Balbir Singh, SP, SV and ACB, Dharamsala Zone, has been transferred as SP Hamirpur, replacing Bhagat Singh Thakur, who is due to retire shortly.

 

Sushil Kumar, SP (Leave Reserve) at Police Headquarters, will now serve as SP Kinnaur, replacing Abhishek Shekhar, who has been appointed SP (Law and Order) at PHQ, Shimla. Vijay Kumar, SP (Leave Reserve) in PHQ, has been transferred as SP Chamba, while Abhishek Yadav, the outgoing SP Chamba, has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) at PHQ, Shimla. Vinod Kumar, earlier Commandant, Home Guard, Chamba, and currently SP Baddi, will continue in his role as SP Baddi.

 

In the senior ranks, Abhishek Trivedi, a 1996-batch IPS officer and ADGP (Law and Order), has been posted as ADGP (Prisons and Correctional Services), Shimla, a position he was already handling in an additional capacity. Prem Kumar Thakur, IGP Armed Police and Training, Shimla, has been appointed as IGP, Police Academy, Training and Research, Shimla.

 

The additional charge of Principal, Police Training College, has been given to Bimal Gupta, IGP, SV and ACB. Soumya Sambasivan, DIG (Northern Range), has been assigned the additional charge of Principal of the Police Training College.
