HUDA City Centre metro station renamed as Millennium City Centre Station

Gurugram: The city's prominent HUDA City Centre metro station has undergone a name change and will now be known as the Millennium City Centre station, according to officials from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Initially announced as the Gurugram City Centre station earlier in the day, DMRC amended the name in the evening.

Situated on the Yellow Metro Line, the Millennium City Centre station serves as a crucial link connecting Gurgaon with South, Central, and North Delhi. The decision to change the name was proposed by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited.

The process of updating the station's name on official documents, signage, and announcements has been initiated by metro officials and will be completed gradually. This practice of renaming stations is not new for DMRC, as it is done to reflect changes in the area's name or align the station with prominent landmarks.

Previously, in 2016, the Race Course Road station was renamed as Lok Kalyan Marg station, following the renaming of the road itself. Similarly, in 2019, the Pragati Maidan metro station on the bustling Blue Line was renamed as Supreme Court metro station after a request from the apex court.

The renaming of the HUDA City Centre station aims to further enhance its association with the vibrant and dynamic spirit of Gurgaon, popularly known as the Millennium City. Commuters and residents alike can now look forward to the renewed identity of the station as Millennium City Centre, embracing the evolving essence of Gurgaon. /BI/
