Miyana railway station wins National Energy Conservation Award 2025

Indore: Miyana railway station in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district has been honoured with the National Energy Conservation Award 2025, marking a notable achievement for Indian Railways in sustainable operations.

The award was presented on National Energy Conservation Day by the President of India Droupadi Murmu. Miyana station was recognised as the best performing unit in the transport category, railway stations, for its measurable reduction in electricity consumption. The General Manager of West Central Railway received the award on behalf of the station.

The recognition comes from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, which assessed stations across the country for their energy-saving practices. Miyana stood out for its structured adoption of LED lighting, BLDC fans and smart lighting circuits operating at 30 to 70 per cent capacity, depending on need.

Together, these interventions helped the station save 9,687 units of electricity, demonstrating how targeted upgrades at smaller stations can deliver tangible results. The approach also reduced operating costs while maintaining passenger comfort and safety.

Indian Railways continues to expand energy-efficient practices across its network, with Miyana railway station now serving as a working example of how sustainability goals can be integrated into everyday railway operations.
