New Delhi: On the occasion of Shaheed Diwas, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal paid floral tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru at an event organised in the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. The three freedom fighters were hanged under British rule on 23rd of March, 1931 for their involvement in the ‘Lahore Conspiracy’ case in 1931.
Speaking at the event in the Vidhan Sabha, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal lauded the bravery of the three freedom fighters and said that they had a strong vision of India. “Today is the 23rd of March and it is the death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru who happily gave away their lives fighting for the Independence of India. It must have been so difficult to be hanged but these brave freedom fighters did it for the sake of India. They had envisioned a free country where everyone would get high quality education and healthcare,” he said.
He added that it was time for the nation and its citizens to introspect and ask themselves whether this was the India for which Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru gave their lives away. He said that it was time for 130 crore citizens of India to get together and work for the nation. He blamed some political parties for indulging in politics of negativity and said it was time to bring an end to it.
He further said that the citizens of India are very intelligent and it is only the political parties that have not utilised the resources of the country and the skillset of the citizens to make India achieve optimum heights. He added that if 130 crore citizens of India can work together, only then will we be able to achieve the India that Shaheed Bhagat Singh had dreamt of. /BI/
