UP plans large rollout of subsidised solar pumps for farmers in FY26

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government will distribute 40,521 subsidised solar pumps to farmers in 2025-26 under the PM Kusum Yojana, according to an official statement. The initiative aims to expand access to reliable and cleaner irrigation systems across the state.

Farmers seeking to benefit from the scheme must apply on the Agriculture Department’s website, www.agriculture.up.gov.in, by 15 December. The subsidised pumps will be allotted through an e-lottery to applicants registered on the portal.

The Agriculture Department will offer state subsidies for different categories of pumps, while the central government will contribute its share. To begin the process, farmers must deposit Rs 5,000 as token money during online booking. After the booking is confirmed, applicants will be notified on their registered mobile numbers and will then be required to pay the remaining amount.

Depending on the pump type, farmers will receive a combined central and state subsidy ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.
