All-in-one ECINET platform set to replace 40 election apps ahead of Bihar polls

New Delhi: The Election Commission is preparing to roll out a unified digital platform, ECINET, which will combine over 40 existing apps into a single interface for voters, officials, and other election stakeholders. The app is expected to be launched before the Bihar elections later this year.

Currently in the final stages of development and testing, ECINET will replace multiple standalone platforms such as the Voter Turnout app, Know Your Candidate, and the election results dashboard. It will also serve as a consolidated tool for Booth Level Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, political parties, and civil society groups.

The move aims to simplify the user experience by eliminating the need to juggle multiple applications and logins. ECINET has been designed with an improved user interface and streamlined navigation, making it easier for people to access essential election-related information from both smartphones and desktops.

According to the poll body, only authorised Election Commission officials will be permitted to enter data on the new platform, in a bid to ensure greater accuracy and consistency.

The idea for the integrated platform was put forward by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the Conference of Chief Electoral Officers held in March, where he was joined by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

The Election Commission described ECINET as a “new user-friendly digital interface” that brings together its various stakeholders on a single platform.
