New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will review the annual performance of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in New Delhi on September 1, with the meeting set to focus on indigenous technology development, modernisation and expanding defence exports.
The review comes after DPSUs recorded strong financial growth in 2025-26. Their combined turnover reached Rs 1.29 lakh crore, marking a 15.4% increase over the previous financial year. Their cumulative Profit After Tax rose 15.6% to Rs 23,136 crore during the same period.
Exports also saw a sharp rise, increasing 151.2% in 2025-26 compared with the previous year.
During the review, the CMDs of seven DPSUs, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), BEML and MIDHANI, will present dividend cheques to the Defence Minister against the government’s equity holdings for 2025-26.
The meeting will also feature the release of four publications covering self-reliance, defence technology awareness, modernisation and indigenisation. These include ‘Aatmanirbhar DPSU - A journey of DPSUs towards Self-Reliance’; DISHA, an initiative aimed at giving students hands-on awareness of defence technologies and modern manufacturing processes; the Modernisation roadmap of HAL; and the Indigenisation Roadmap of HAL.
The annual review will provide an opportunity to assess the progress of the 16 DPSUs and identify areas for further work, particularly in building indigenous capabilities and strengthening their role in India’s defence manufacturing and export ecosystem.
