Dr Jitendra Singh to inaugurate national workshop on good governance practices

New Delhi: Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space, will inaugurate the National Workshop on Good Governance Practices on 23 December 2024. The event will take place at Bhim Auditorium, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

 

Dr Singh will also inaugurate an exhibition showcasing the best practices from Swachhata Campaign 4.0, curated by various ministries and departments, and release the campaign's assessment report. The technical sessions at the workshop will be addressed by senior officials, including the Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Secretary of the Department of Posts, the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Secretary of the Railway Board, the Director General of NIC, and the Director General of NAI. A total of 750 officials from various ministries and departments will participate in the deliberations.

 

This marks the fourth National Workshop on Good Governance Practices organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances from 2021 to 2024. It has become a key part of Sushasan Saptah, or Good Governance Week, celebrated annually from 19 December to 25 December.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings and best wishes for the success of the fourth Sushasan Saptah. In his message, the Prime Minister emphasised that good governance is crucial for the nation's progress, noting that transparency, efficiency, and accountability are essential to creating an administration that benefits people’s welfare and development.

 

The Special Campaign 4.0 for institutionalising cleanliness and reducing pendency in government offices was conducted from 2 to 31 October 2024 across 5.97 lakh offices. The campaign resulted in the disposal of 25.19 lakh files, revenue generation of Rs 650.10 crore from scrap disposal, and freeing up 190 lakh square feet of space. Collectively, the four Special Campaigns held between 2021 and 2024 generated Rs 2,364 crore from scrap disposal.

 

In a post shared on X on 10 November 2024, the Prime Minister praised the achievements of Special Campaign 4.0, stating, "Commendable! By focusing on efficient management and proactive action, this effort has attained great results. It shows how collective efforts can lead to sustainable results, promoting both cleanliness and economic prudence."
