New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on November 18, 2024, received credentials from the ambassadors and high commissioners of six countries in a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The dignitaries included the Ambassador of Switzerland, Maya Tissafi; the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Yousef Mustafa Ali Abdel Ghani; the High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea, Vincent Sumale; the High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, Prof. Anil Sooklal; the Ambassador of Myanmar, Zaw Oo; and the Ambassador of Egypt, Kamel Zayed Kamel Galal.
The presentation of credentials is a significant diplomatic ritual in which foreign envoys are formally recognized as the official representatives of their countries to India. This ceremony marks the beginning of their tenure and affirms their role in fostering diplomatic relations between their respective nations and India.
The event highlights India’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties with countries across the globe. The latest ceremony follows a similar event earlier this year on September 6, 2024, when envoys from five other nations, including the Solomon Islands, Nauru, Italy, Iceland, and Israel, presented their credentials to President Murmu.
These diplomatic exchanges reflect the growing importance of global partnerships and cooperation as India continues to expand its role on the world stage.
