IEW 2025: Over 20 Energy Ministers, 90 CEOs set to highlight India’s global energy transition leadership

New Delhi: India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, the flagship event of the Government of India on energy, is set to take place from February 11–14, 2025, at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and led by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), IEW 2025 promises to be a landmark event in the global energy calendar.

Building on its success since its inception in 2023, this third edition will host over 70,000 delegates from 120 countries, 700 exhibitors, and representatives from 10 country pavilions, including energy leaders such as the United States, Germany, Japan, and Russia. The event will see the participation of 70 global CEOs, 20 foreign energy ministers, and senior representatives from international organisations, reaffirming its position as a global platform for energy dialogue.

Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, emphasised the significance of IEW 2025, saying, “This is more than a gathering of energy leaders; it is a platform to forge global partnerships, drive innovation, and tackle the challenges of energy transition. From advancing green hydrogen technologies to showcasing India’s strides in renewable energy, IEW 2025 highlights India’s leadership in the global energy transition.”

This year’s event is centred around seven strategic themes: Collaboration, Resilience, Transition, Capacity, Digital Frontiers, Innovation, and Leadership. Discussions will address emerging issues such as AI in energy, digitalisation, maritime decarbonisation, and global energy equity, aligning with India’s dual goals of energy independence and decarbonisation.

India Energy Week 2025 will spotlight India’s groundbreaking efforts to transform its energy sector. Key innovations in battery storage, second- and third-generation biofuels, green ammonia, and hydrogen production will take centre stage, showcasing India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainable energy solutions.

The event will also underscore India’s role in energy security and investment opportunities in the hydrocarbon sector. Notable side events, including the Clean Cooking Ministerial, will highlight India’s successful clean cooking initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which has revolutionised access to clean energy for millions of households.

IEW 2025 has seen a 29% rise in abstract submissions and a 24% increase in speaker participation compared to previous editions. With 20 thematic categories—up from 18 in 2024—this year’s event will delve deeper into topics like decarbonisation of transport, grid-scale energy storage, and methane mitigation technologies.

The winners of the Technical Papers Competition, selected from nearly 3,000 entries, will have the unique opportunity to present their pioneering research. Additionally, free workshops and masterclasses led by international experts will engage students, startups, and entrepreneurs, nurturing the next generation of energy innovators.

IEW 2025 will also host the Avinya Energy Startup Challenge 2.0, spotlighting emerging entrepreneurs and their innovative solutions. The top five startups will gain global exposure by presenting their ideas to a distinguished audience of industry leaders and policymakers.

Renowned global energy firms, including bp, TotalEnergies, ADNOC, QatarEnergy, and Vitol, will participate, alongside key Indian energy ministries such as the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. This collaborative approach highlights the government’s commitment to integrated energy solutions and sustainable development.

With an expanded event space of 28,000 square metres, IEW 2025 will provide a dynamic environment for stakeholders to engage, collaborate, and drive actionable discussions. “IEW 2025 is a testament to India’s ambition to lead the global energy transition while amplifying the voice of the Global South. It will be a platform for driving sustainable growth, energy justice, and innovative solutions," stated Jain.
