New Delhi: In a grand celebration aimed at uniting India through art and culture, the Ministry of Culture has launched a festival series titled Amrit Parampara. The series will highlight traditional arts and endangered art forms across India, using innovative programming and interactive experiences to appeal to modern audiences.
The inaugural program of the series, Kaveri Meets Ganga, is set to take place from November 2nd to 5th at iconic venues such as Kartavya Path and the CCRT campus in Dwarka. Jointly organized by the Ministry’s autonomous institutions — Sangeet Natak Akademi, Kalakshetra, and CCRT — this event will spotlight the richness of both South and North Indian cultural traditions, embodying the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
A tribute to Chennai’s renowned Margazhi Festival, Kaveri Meets Ganga will present a unique fusion of performances from across India. Attendees can expect to see Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dances, folk traditions like Kerala’s Panchavadyam and Theyyam, as well as sacred rituals such as Braj’s Nagar Sankirtan and Govardhan Puja. Esteemed performers, including Rakesh Chaurasiya on flute, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan on sarod, and the Carnatic vocal duo Renjini and Gayatri, promise to create an unforgettable celebration of India’s artistic heritage.
The Amrit Parampara series has been designed to promote the continuity of India’s cultural legacy through four key pillars: the foundation of Bharatiya Sanskriti, a blend of cultural education and entertainment, the synthesis of diverse ideas, and a multi-sensory experience.
Each performance will celebrate this commitment by highlighting the art forms and cultural expressions that embody India’s timeless spirit. With its immersive, technology-driven approach, Amrit Parampara will provide audiences with an innovative and sensory experience, blending traditional artistry with modern-day presentation.
The festival series comes as India begins a two-year commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision of a united India resonates with the theme of cultural unity that Amrit Parampara seeks to promote. Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar will join the event, along with dignitaries and renowned artists, to celebrate the diversity and harmony within India’s cultural landscape.
Amrit Parampara will continue with events across Delhi, offering a blend of traditional art forms presented through modern interpretations, ensuring the preservation and revitalization of India’s rich cultural legacy.
