New Delhi: As the Narendra Modi government marks 100 days of its third term in office, it has released a report showcasing several significant advancements in the fields of technology and science. One of the standout achievements is India's emergence as the world's second-largest mobile producer, bolstered by the establishment of indigenous semiconductor facilities. A major development is underway with a new semiconductor unit set to be established in Sanand, Gujarat, which will produce around 6 million chips per day, supported by an investment of Rs 3,300 crore.
In addition to technological advancements, efforts have been made to improve India's preparedness for natural disasters with the creation of a national database. The government has also launched the Bhuvan Panchayat portal to maintain rural land records, enhancing transparency and governance at the grassroots level.
On the space and science front, India celebrated its first National Space Day on August 23, recognising the successes of the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions. The government has introduced a Rs 1,000 crore venture capital fund to support space startups, aiming to strengthen the sector further. Additionally, a National Research Fund of Rs 50,000 crore has been established, along with the launch of the Vigyan Dhara scheme, which has a budget of Rs 10,500 crore, to boost scientific research and innovation.
The government's commitment to space exploration was also demonstrated on August 16 with the successful launch of the EOS-08 satellite on the SSLV-D3, adding another milestone to India's growing achievements in space technology. /BI
