One app to rule your railway journey: book, track, and more – made simple!

New Delhi: Indian Railways has unveiled a new mobile application, RailOne, designed to consolidate various passenger services into a single digital platform. Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw today launched the app during the 40th Foundation Day celebration of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) at the India Habitat Centre.

The application, now available on Android and iOS, allows users to book unreserved tickets, track live train movements, file complaints, and access services such as e-catering, porter bookings, and taxi arrangements – all within one interface. Reserved ticket bookings will remain with IRCTC, although RailOne has been authorised as a commercial partner, similar to other recognised platforms.

According to the Railway Ministry, the app supports existing RailConnect and UTS logins, and offers biometric and mPIN-based access for a smoother experience. Officials suggest this could reduce dependency on multiple apps and bring greater convenience to regular train travellers.

Speaking at the event, Minister Vaishnaw acknowledged the efforts of CRIS and outlined future plans for Indian Railways' digital systems. He announced that an upgraded Passenger Reservation System (PRS) is set to be rolled out by December 2025. The new PRS is expected to handle ten times the current load, with capacities reaching 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and 40 lakh enquiries per minute. It will include features like seat selection, fare calendars, and special modules for students, patients, and Divyangjan.

While these announcements align with the government’s ongoing push for digital public services, the impact on day-to-day passenger experience will likely become clearer as implementation progresses.
