PM Modi urges students to look beyond marks at Pariksha pe charcha 2026

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with students during the Pariksha Pe Charcha programme, saying that examinations should not be treated as the final aim of education and that all-round development must remain the larger focus of life, PTI reported.

Speaking during the 2026 edition of the initiative, Modi emphasised the importance of looking ahead and learning beyond what is required only for scoring marks. He said, “... I don't look back at what has passed, I always look at what is to come... There are times when teachers only teach what is important and can help you score good marks, but a good teacher focuses on all-around development and teaches everything... Life is not just about exams. Education is just a medium of our development... Exams should never be the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is all-around development…”

The upcoming edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha will focus on helping students remain stress-free during examinations while encouraging a deeper interest in learning rather than performance alone.

Pariksha Pe Charcha, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, aims to reshape how students experience exams by building confidence, positivity and overall well-being. The programme seeks to present the exam season as a Utsav rather than a source of anxiety.

According to an official release from the Ministry of Education, the Prime Minister has brought together his views on examinations and student life in his book Exam Warriors. The book is available in multiple languages and in Braille, and highlights belief in oneself while encouraging open conversations around exam-related pressure so children can enjoy a more balanced and happy childhood.

Conceptualised by the Prime Minister, Pariksha Pe Charcha continues to evolve each year, introducing new ideas and formats to connect with students, teachers and parents across the country.
