New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Delhi with a total investment of around ₹33,500 crore, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, and housing in the national capital.
A major highlight of the initiative is the expansion of the Delhi Metro network. Two new corridors were inaugurated under Phase IV, including the 12.3 km Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur stretch of the Pink Line and the 9.9 km Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park section of the Magenta Line, which is expected to improve connectivity across key areas of the city.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for three additional Metro corridors under Phase V-A of the project. These include the R.K. Ashram Marg–Indraprastha, Aerocity–IGI Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj routes, covering a combined length of over 16 kilometres and aimed at strengthening links between central Delhi, the airport, and surrounding regions.
Along with transport projects, the government has also advanced redevelopment work under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) scheme. Thousands of modern housing units and office spaces are being developed in areas such as Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Srinivaspuri, improving facilities for government employees and administrative operations.
The projects are part of a broader push to modernise Delhi’s urban infrastructure, enhance mobility for commuters, and support the city’s long-term growth through improved transport networks and upgraded housing facilities.
