New Delhi: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has fully digitised the process of forwarding candidate dossiers to ministries and departments, replacing physical files with electronic dossiers (e-dossiers) to make government recruitment faster, more secure, and cost-efficient.
The initiative, in line with the Digital India mission, uses SSC’s dedicated e-dossier portal to compile and deliver dossiers of selected candidates to nodal officers in ministries and departments for pre-appointment formalities. The system eliminates the use of physical documents and enables secure access through login credentials.
Among the main benefits of the new system are enhanced data integrity, secure access with activity logs, faster document transmission, and reduced costs associated with printing and transport. SSC highlighted that “e-dossiers are accessible only through secure login credentials assigned to nodal officers, reducing the risk of unauthorized alterations, thereby providing enhanced data integrity.”
This digital transition has already been adopted for major recruitment exams, including the Junior Engineer Examination 2024, Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination 2024, Multi-Tasking Staff Examination 2024, and the Combined Graduate Level Examination 2024.
By cutting down delays and improving coordination between SSC and government departments, the shift to e-dossiers is expected to significantly reduce the time taken for appointment processes and benefit lakhs of youth awaiting recruitment.
