Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan officially takes charge of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare

New Delhi: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today took charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Speaking with the media on the occasion, Chouhan said he is happy to announce that the first decision taken by the Prime Minister yesterday was in the interest of the farmers. He mentioned that the Prime Minister is committed to doubling the income of farmers and that the government will take every possible step for their welfare. The Minister also added that the NDA government has been committed to farmers’ welfare for the past ten years and that his Ministry will continue to work towards achieving these goals.

After taking charge, the Minister visited various offices in the Ministry and interacted with staff at various levels, including cleanliness workers. He encouraged them to work as a team to achieve the government's vision for the welfare of farmers and to cooperate with each other. He also visited the Krishi Integrated Command and Control Center in the Ministry and reviewed the facilities for monitoring the agricultural scenario within the country, including crop production and drought preparedness.

Ramnath Thakur and Bhagirath Choudhary also took charge as Ministers of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The Ministers were welcomed by Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Manoj Ahuja, Secretary DARE Himanshu Pathak, and other senior officials of the Ministry.

Later, Chouhan held a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry and underscored the need for transparency in its functioning. He distributed the government manifesto for the welfare of farmers and rural development, calling on everyone to work towards its fulfillment. Chouhan asserted that PM Narendra Modi is a visionary leader and urged officials to develop a roadmap for achieving the goals set out in the manifesto. He emphasized that improving the lives of farmers should be the Ministry's mission. /BI
