New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture secured a rare double win at the Republic Day Parade 2026, with its tableau “Vande Mataram, 150 Years Journey” winning the First Prize in the Best Tableau category among Central Ministries and Departments, and its cultural dance presentation “Vande Mataram, The Eternal Resonance of Bharat” receiving the Special Prize for artistic and thematic excellence.
The award-winning tableau traced the 150-year journey of Vande Mataram, portraying its rise as a song of national awakening and its lasting influence on India’s freedom movement, unity and civilisational ethos. Through strong visual storytelling and symbolism, the tableau reflected how the National Song continues to shape India’s shared national identity.
The Special Prize-winning cultural presentation, “Vande Mataram, The Eternal Resonance of Bharat”, was curated by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala. Conceived as a tribute to Rashtrarishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic composition, the performance brought together nearly 2,500 artists from across all States and Union Territories.
Blending classical, folk and tribal art forms, the choreography unfolded Bharat’s journey from its spiritual and cultural roots to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the courage of the armed forces. Sanskrit chants, powerful music and evolving formations guided the narrative, culminating in a stirring tribute to the Tiranga as a symbol of unity, devotion and national pride.
The cultural presentation was led by Dr. Sandhya Purecha as Overall Creative Director. Music was composed by M. M. Keeravani, with additional lyrics by Subhas Sehgal. The voice-over was delivered by Anupam Kher, choreography was designed by Santosh Nair, and costumes were created by Sandhya Raman.
