Mumbai: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) India has launched the 11th edition of its India Business Case Programme, an initiative aimed at enhancing career readiness among undergraduate students for the academic year 2024-2025. This pioneering programme, developed in collaboration with United Way of Mumbai, with support from Sattva Consulting and MindMap Consulting, is designed to equip students with essential skills beyond their academic disciplines.

Building on the success of the previous year, which saw participation from approximately 3,100 students, the programme is set to expand significantly, targeting around 10,000 undergraduate students nationwide. The India Business Case Programme is more than just an academic exercise; it is a comprehensive platform designed to nurture critical thinking, leadership, and practical business skills among the youth, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.

The initiative provides a rich learning experience, including access to e-learning modules, virtual and in-person workshops, mentorship, and opportunities to interact with C-suite executives. Through business case studies, students will gain valuable insights into the practicalities of the business world, preparing them for future career challenges.

Hitendra Dave, CEO of HSBC India, highlighted the importance of the programme, stating, "In a country where over half the population is under the age of 25, programmes like this have the potential to be truly transformative. By offering practical learning experiences and fostering an environment where diverse talent can thrive, we aim to equip young individuals with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive global landscape. This programme supports the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of business and society."

The 2024-25 programme is open to all undergraduate students in their penultimate or final year, regardless of their field of study, whether Science, Commerce, or Arts. Students can register online individually or through their college, forming teams of four from the same institution. The programme kicks off in August 2024 with online case-solving and will culminate in a national round in March 2025. The top two teams will have the opportunity to participate in the Asia Pacific programme in Hong Kong in 2025.

In the last edition, students from 72 undergraduate colleges across 55 cities participated. This year, the programme will be expanded to include colleges from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, aiming to tap into the vast pool of talent across the country. /BI
