New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) commenced its 1st Advanced Leadership Development Programme on Public Policy and Governance, specifically designed for Latin American and Caribbean nations. This two-week programme, running from 2nd to 13th September 2024, brings together 22 civil servants from 10 countries, including Argentina, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Paraguay, Peru, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Suriname.
Today, the Secretary of DARPG and Director General of NCGG, V. Srinivas, interacted with the 22 officials from these countries. Commonalities in governance models between the Latin American countries and India were discussed. The saturation approach to priority sector schemes has been the defining goal of the government’s all-round, inclusive development model. The "Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal" – the goal of a developed India, removing traces of colonial mindset, taking pride in our roots, unity, and instilling a sense of duty – represent the foundational principles of good governance in this period.
The nation has focused on next-generation reforms, empowering citizens, and reaching the last mile as priorities for Viksit Bharat@2047. This quest includes next-generation infrastructure, world-class manufacturing, cutting-edge innovation, and new-age technology. Information technology has become a key competitive advantage, transforming work processes in government and facilitating interactions between citizens and the government.
The two-week programme will cover a wide array of topics such as Aadhaar as a tool for good governance, Skill India: Policy and Practices, Vigilance Administration, Leadership and Motivation in Governance, India’s Fiscal and Monetary Policy, Diaspora and Migration Issues, Approaches to Achieve SDGs by 2030, Indian Culture and Sustainable Tourism, Paradigms of Governance, Digital Economy & Innovation, Urban Governance & Sustainable Cities, Food Security & Agriculture, Holistic Healthcare: Ayurveda, PM Gati Shakti, Disaster Management & Humanitarian Relief, Local Governance and Decentralisation, Emotional Intelligence for Administrators, Vision@2047, GeM: Bringing Transparency in Government Procurement, E-Governance and Digital Public Service Delivery, among others.
Participants will also undertake study tours and exposure visits to the Forest Research Institute (FRI), District Administration in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the International Solar Alliance, National Institute of Solar Energy, the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management, and a heritage visit to the Taj Mahal, Agra.
The entire capacity-building programme is supervised by Dr Himanshi Rastogi, Course Coordinator and Associate Professor, Dr Mukesh Bhandari, Associate Course Coordinator, and Sanjay Dutt Pant, Programme Assistant, Dr Zaid Fakhar, Consultant NCGG, and Megha Tomar, Young Professional, NCGG, along with the entire NCGG capacity-building team.
