Chandigarh: The State Government has cleared the name of former Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) along with former IAS officer SS Phulia, who has been appointed as an Information Commissioner.

Vardhan, an IAS officer of 1985 batch, had been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the State in September 2020. He replaced 1983-batch woman IAS officer Keshni Anand Arora.

He was replaced by 1986-batch IAS officer Sanjeev Kaushal in November 2021. Prior to this, Kaushal had worked with the Centre as Joint Secretary, two State Governments, two large PSUs as Managing Director, and also the largest Municipal Corporation of Haryana as the Chief Administrator of Faridabad Complex with the responsibilities of the Mayor and the Commissioner both. /BI/
