Lucknow: In a recent reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 11 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including the police commissioners of Lucknow and Prayagraj, officials announced on Saturday.
IPS officer Amarendra Kumar Sengar has been appointed as the new police commissioner of Lucknow. He succeeds S B Shiradkar, who has been reassigned as the additional director general of police (ADG) for the Lucknow Zone. Prior to this, Sengar served as the ADG for the Lucknow Zone.
Sengar boasts an illustrious 29-year career within the Indian Police Service, having been part of the 1995 batch from Uttar Pradesh.
Having undergone extensive training, including the 62nd NDC Course in 2022, Sengar's career in the police force reflects a spectrum of responsibilities and significant roles. He held the position of Inspector General (IG) at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Notably, he served as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Union Home Minister from 2017 to 2019.
Senger served as IG for law and order in Uttar Pradesh and also presided over the Varanasi Zone. Earlier in his career, he was posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Gorakhpur, Moradabad, and Basti ranges, overseeing the responsibilities of Superintendent of Police (SP) or Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) across nine districts including Muzaffarnagar, Jhansi, Unnao, Hardoi, Jalaun, Udhamsingh Nagar, Tehri Garhwal, and Chitrakut for over six years during 1999-2007. His expertise spans various domains within law enforcement, including intelligence and the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID).
Additionally, ADG Bareilly Zone Prem Chand Meena has been appointed as the ADG/MD of the Police Housing Corporation. He will be replaced by Ramit Sharma, the outgoing Police Commissioner of Prayagraj.
In other changes, Vinod Kumar Singh has been designated as the ADG of Cyber Crime. Prakash D, the former ADG/MD of the Police Housing Corporation, will now take on the role of ADG Railway. Jai Narayan Singh, who previously held the position of ADG Railway, has been transferred to PTC Sitapur.
ADG Special Security L V Antony Dev Kumar has been assigned as ADG, CBCID. Raghuveer Lal, the ADG Security, will now also oversee the Special Security Force as part of his expanded responsibilities.
Further appointments include K Satyanarayan, who has been moved from ADG, CBCID to ADG, Traffic and Road Security. BD Palson, previously the ADG Traffic, has been reassigned as ADG, Training.
These strategic transfers are part of the government's efforts to streamline and enhance the effectiveness of the police force across the state. /BI
