Bengaluru: B Dayananda, a senior IPS officer of 1994 batch, has been appointed as the new Bengaluru city Police Commissioner, replacing C H Pratap Reddy, who has been transferred as Director General of Police, Internal Security Division (ISD).
Dayananda, who has been serving as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Intelligence, is known for his vast experience in the field of law enforcement and has held several key positions in the past.
Dayananda has previously served as the Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, and has headed the city's Traffic Department. He has also worked as the Superintendent of Police in several districts of the state, including Bijapur, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, and Kolar.
Dayananda is a recipient of several awards and honors, including the President's medals for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service, and the United Nations Medal for World Peace Keeping Service in Kosovo. He is also known for his work in the field of cybercrime investigation.
Dayananda's appointment comes at a time when the city is grappling with rising crimes, particularly in the areas of cybercrime and drug trafficking.
