Chandigarh: An IAS officer of the 2012 batch of Punjab cadre, Bhupinder Singh has joined as the new Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab.

Singh underscored the significance of the Department to act as the bridge between the common man and the government besides ensuring that the people friendly policies of the State Government percolate down to the grassroots level.

He also emphasized upon the importance of social media as a tool to ensure maximum reach of Government policies and programmes, in keeping with the demands of the present hi tech era.

The incumbent who holds the charge of Special Secretary, Power, exhorted the officers and other staff of the department to work in unison to leave no stone unturned in propagating pro people initiatives of the government. /BI/
