New Delhi: In a bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officers were shifted and given key responsibilities.
Vumlunmang Vualnam, a 1992-batch Manipur cadre IAS officer, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He replaces Rajiv Bansal, who retired on August 31. This decision comes after a modification of a previous order.
In the Department of Telecommunications, Neeraj Mittal, a 1992-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, will assume the role of Secretary.
The reshuffle extends to various other ministries: S Krishnan, a Tamil Nadu cadre 1989-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Umang Narula, a Uttarakhand-cadre IAS, will be the new Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Shashi Ranjan Kumar, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Tripura cadre, takes charge as the Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with the post temporarily upgraded.
Katikithala Srinivas, a Gujarat-cadre 1989-batch IAS officer, transitions from his role as the Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration to become the Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Sriram Taranikanti, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Tripura cadre, assumes the role of Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
Arunish Chawla, a 1992-batch IAS officer, is set to take over as the Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Nidhi Khare, IAS, Jharkhand cadre 1992-batch IAS officer, will join the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, as an OSD and subsequently take over as the Secretary of the department.
The government has also upgraded the positions of three 1992-batch IAS officers to the level of Special Secretary. /BI
