New Delhi: Dr Sujoy Lal Thaosen, a senior IPS officer and Director General of CRPF, has taken over the additional charge of Director General of BSF.

The 1988-batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Dr Thaosen is a Post Graduate in Political Studies from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and has completed his PhD from Ujjain University, Madhya Pradesh.

He has served in various capacities in Madhya Pradesh Police and was deployed in the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH) in the year 1999 - 2000.

Dr Thaosen has also served as DIG and IG in the Special Protection Group (SPG) from the year 2004 to 2013.

Earlier also, Dr Thaosen had a stint in the Border Security Force (BSF) as ADG (ANO) and SDG (Logistics) from February 2020 to May 2022 and later he served as DG, SSB and DG, ITBP, additional charge, before taking over the charge of DG CRPF on 3rd October 2022.

Dr Thaosen is a recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service-2005, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service-2012, Special Duty Medal and Ati Utkrisht Seva Padak-2021. /BI/
