IPS Officer AVY Krishna takes charge as Inspector General of CRPF

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed esteemed IPS officer AVY Krishna as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF).

Krishna, who held the position of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in Assam's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been selected to serve in the CRPF on a deputation basis for a period of five years.

This appointment comes after a reshuffle in the top echelons of the police force had taken place in July, where Krishna was relieved of his additional responsibilities as the chief of the Special Task Force (STF). However, he will continue to lead the CID and the Bureau of Investigation (EO) in Assam.

Having earned accolades during his illustrious career as a 1995-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre officer, Krishna has a remarkable track record of handling critical cases in the CID, including those associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the investigation into the untimely demise of Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha. /BI
