New Delhi: Jaya Verma Sinha, a seasoned IRTS (railway traffic) officer, has been appointed as the new Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board. She becomes the first woman to hold this esteemed position in the 105-year history of the Ministry of Railways.
With a proven track record in the railway sector, Jaya Verma Sinha's rise is known for her role as the Member (Operations and Business Development) on the Railway Board. Jaya Verma Sinha's significant role in the spotlight came during railway media interactions, where she adeptly explained the intricate signalling system after a tragic incident in Balasore took the lives of nearly 300 individuals. Her mastery over railway operations shines through her accomplished career.
Starting her journey in the Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1988 after graduating from Allahabad University, Sinha's experience spans multiple railways, including Northern Railway, S E Railway, and Eastern Railway. Her global contribution was evident when she served as Railway Advisor in the High Commission of India, Dhaka, Bangladesh, playing a key role in launching the Maitree Express connecting Kolkata to Dhaka.
