Itanagar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Manish Kumar Gupta, a 1991-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, as the new chief secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, with immediate effect.
Gupta previously held the position of principal secretary (Home) and served as additional chief secretary in the Delhi administration.
There had been earlier speculation that Sajjan Singh Yadav, a 1995-batch IAS officer from the same cadre, would succeed Dharmendra, who was transferred to the national capital. However, the ministry's order on Thursday confirmed that Gupta would assume the role of chief secretary in the frontier state. /BI
