Gandhinagar: In a key administrative reshuffle, senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Das has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat. He takes over from Pankaj Joshi, who will superannuate on October 31, 2025. The Gujarat government’s General Administration Department issued an official notification announcing the appointment.
A 1989-batch IAS officer and a native of Bihar, Das is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Over the years, he has held a wide range of roles in departments such as Energy, Urban Development, Revenue, Home, Ports and Transport, and Finance.
An engineering graduate, Das began his career as Deputy Development Officer in Vadodara in 1992. His first major posting came in 1997 as District Collector of Porbandar. Known for his administrative clarity and people-focused approach, he has been instrumental in several key policy initiatives of the Gujarat government.
Fluent in Bengali and Hindi, Das is widely regarded for his pragmatic leadership and effective policy execution. His appointment as Chief Secretary is seen as a continuation of Gujarat’s emphasis on strong governance and developmental continuity under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
