Manukumar Srivastava is new Maharashtra Chief Secretary

Mumbai: Manukumar Srivastava, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1986 batch, has taken over as the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. He has replaced Debashish Chakrabarty. Srivastava’s term as CS will come to an end in April 2023, the year of his superannuation. Earlier, he was holding the charge of Home in the capacity of Additional Chief Secretary.

It is said that Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Public Work Departments, Manoj Saunik, a 1987 batch IAS officer, and Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue, Nitin Kareer of 1988 batch, were also in the race for the top slot. However, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is said to have opted for seniority as the criterion to appoint an IAS officer to the coveted post. /BI/
