Punjab Government Undertakes Major Administrative Reshuffle, 15 IAS Officers Transferred

Chandigarh: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Punjab Government has executed a long-awaited reshuffle, repositioning 15 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers within the state bureaucracy. The strategic realignment, aimed at optimizing administrative efficiency, saw key officials assuming new responsibilities across various departments.

Among the notable changes, Kumar Rahul, formerly Secretary of General Administration and Coordination, Personnel and Vigilance, has been appointed as the Secretary of Jails. This decision fills a vacant position that had remained unoccupied following Ravneet Kaur's decision to take premature retirement for an assignment at the central level.

The sweeping restructuring initiative encompassed the transfer of key officials, with Kamal Kishore Yadav transitioning to the role of Secretary of Education, concurrently serving as CEO of the Bureau of Investment Promotion. Arshdeep Singh Thind has assumed the pivotal position of Taxation Commissioner of Punjab, succeeding Yadav.

Shruti Singh, who previously held the role of Secretary of Revenue and Rehabilitation, as well as Resident Commissioner of Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi, has taken up new responsibilities. She is now Secretary of Personnel, Secretary of Vigilance, and Secretary of General Administration. Notably, she will continue to oversee the role of Resident Commissioner at Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi.

The revamp extends to pivotal roles within the state government, with Sandeep Hans now serving as Special Secretary of Personnel. Additionally, Sanyam Aggarwal, formerly the Deputy Commissioner of Malerkotla, has been appointed as Joint Managing Director-cum-CEO of the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company.
