Rajiv Bansal is new Civil Aviation Secretary; Govind Mohan goes to Culture Ministry as Secretary

New Delhi: Rajiv Bansal, 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Nagaland cadre, has been appointed Secretary, Civil Aviation Ministry. He will replace Pradeep Singh Kharola, who retires on September 30. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, as Secretary, Culture Ministry.

Bansal, who is currently Air India chairman and managing director, has the immediate task of overseeing key changes in Air India, which is going to be disinvested. K Rajaraman, a 1989 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, has been posted as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications. He will replace Anshu Prakash, who is retiring September 30.

As per media reports, K Sanjay Murthy, a 1989 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, will be replacing Amit Khare as Secretary, Department of Higher Education. It is worth mentioning that Khare was instrumental in formulating several new policies including the new National Education Policy 2020, which aims to make vocational learning a part of the main curriculum and access to education easier. The policy was approved by the Union Cabinet in July 2020.

Devendra Kumar Singh has been posted as Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, which is headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while Pradip Kumar Tripathi will head the Department of Personnel and Training. Delhi Development Authority Vice Chairman Anuraj Jain will be Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, while Sunil Barthwal has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Rajesh Aggarwal has been posted as Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Lok Ranjan and Sujata Chaturvedi will be Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Department of Sports respectively.

The Central government has also elevated many Additional Secretaries to the rank of Special Secretaries – S Kishore,V Srinivas, and Manoj Joshi. Katikithala Srinivas will now head the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in the rank and pay of Secretary, as per the DoPT notification.
