Imphal: The Manipur Government has appointed Rajiv Singh, a senior IPS officer of Tripura cadre, as the new Director General of Police. He has replaced P Doungel, who has been posted as Officer-On-Special Duty in the Home Department. 

Singh, who was earlier posted as the Inspector General of CRPF, is a 1993 batch IPS officer with a rich experience in law enforcement. 

Meanwhile, sporadic incidents of violence continue to be reported from different parts of the state, with two police commandos recently getting injured in an operation to flush out militants. /BI/
