Ramesh Krishnamurthi appointed as new head of EPFO

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ramesh Krishnamurthi, currently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment, as the new Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. 

 

Krishnamurthi, an officer from the 1992 IRS batch, takes over from Neelam Shammi Rao, who has been appointed as Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities. As CPFC, Krishnamurthi will be responsible for overseeing EPFO’s fund investments, budget preparation, internal audits, and the organisation’s ongoing transition to digital operations. 

 

The CPFC also serves as the ex-officio Member Secretary of the Central Board, EPF, tasked with setting interest rates for each financial year and ensuring the efficient operation of EPFO’s financial management.
