Srinagar: Senior IPS officer RR Swain has been appointed as the Director General of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Currently serving as the Special Director General, CID, Swain is set to take over this crucial role, effective from November 1. He will succeed Dilbag Singh, who is retiring on October 31. The announcement came through an official order issued by the Home Ministry.
RR Swain, a 1991 batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, brings a wealth of experience to this position. His impressive career has seen him in various leadership roles, including serving as the police chief in both the Jammu and Srinagar districts. Swain's journey within the Jammu and Kashmir cadre has been marked by remarkable achievements. In 2020, he returned to the J&K cadre to take on the role of Intelligence Chief, succeeding senior IPS officer B Srinivas, who was appointed as the DGP of Puducherry. Swain's tenure also included a stint with the J&K Vigilance organization from 2004 to 2006, where he served as AIG and DIG.
