New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the repatriation of Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, to his parent cadre in Bihar, where he is expected to assume the role of Chief Secretary. This decision follows a request from the Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Amrit Lal Meena, a 1989 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, is likely to replace Brijesh Mehrotra, the current Chief Secretary of Bihar, who is set to retire on 31 August 2024.
Amrit Lal Meena has a distinguished career spanning 34 years, having served in both central and state governments. His previous roles include Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Additional Chief Secretary of Bihar, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, and other significant positions in the Bihar state administration. /BI
