Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan to head India’s counter-terrorism force NSG

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan was appointed as the Director General (DG) of the National Security Guard (NSG) on 27 August 2024. Srinivasan, a 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Bihar Cadre, is currently serving as the director of the Bihar Police Academy, Rajgir.

 

He will assume the role of NSG Director General following Nalin Prabhat's transfer to the position of Special Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Srinivasan as Director General, NSG, from the date of joining the post and up to 31 August 2027, which is his date of superannuation," stated a Ministry of Personnel announcement.

 

The order further mentioned, "Inter-cadre deputation of Prabhat, IPS, from Andhra Pradesh to AGMUT cadre, initially for a period of three years from the date of joining the AGMUT cadre or until further orders, whichever is earlier, in relaxation of inter-cadre deputation guidelines."

 

Following Prabhat's appointment, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Anish Dayal Singh has been holding additional charge of the NSG. /BI
