New Delhi: Tata Communications has appointed Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer-designate, marking a leadership transition at the global digital ecosystem company.
Lakshminarayanan brings over three decades of international management experience across multinational corporations, B2B start-ups and Indian enterprises. He most recently served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India and SAARC, where he led market expansion and business growth in the region.
Before joining ServiceNow, he headed Airtel Business in India and earlier led Airtel’s enterprise business unit. During his tenure, the enterprise unit recorded strong performance, achieving 50 percent growth over three years and expanding market share from 30 percent to 33 percent. The business also received the Chairman’s Award for Best Business Unit in FY23.
On the academic front, Lakshminarayanan holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Guindy Engineering College, Chennai, graduating as a gold medalist. He has been elected twice to the NASSCOM executive council, served on the FICCI council and is a founding member of Social Venture Partners Bengaluru.

The appointment is subject to receipt of required regulatory approvals. Following these approvals, the board will formally appoint Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and CEO of Tata Communications Limited. He will succeed A. S. Lakshminarayanan, the current Managing Director and CEO, who is set to retire on April 13, 2026.
