New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of senior-level IPS appointments across key national security and border management organisations.

Rakesh Aggarwal, IPS (HP:1994) has been appointed Director General, National Investigation Agency (NIA). He will hold the post from the date of assuming charge until 31 August 2028, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The ACC has also approved the appointment of Praveen Kumar, IPS (WB:1993) as Director General, Border Security Force (BSF). He will serve in the position until 30 September 2030, his date of superannuation, or until further orders.

In another decision, Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, IPS (HY:1990) has been appointed Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). He will remain in office until 31 October 2026, or until further orders, succeeding Praveen Kumar.

These appointments strengthen leadership across India’s internal security, counter-terrorism, and border guarding institutions, reflecting the government’s emphasis on continuity and experienced stewardship at the highest levels.
