Kolkata: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has transferred 39 IAS officers, including K Radhika Aiyar, the district magistrate of Purba Bardhaman. The decision follows multiple complaints regarding the district administration's handling of the recent flood situation and the distribution of relief materials.
Aiyar, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been moved to the Health and Family Welfare Department, while Ayesha Rani, a 2009-batch IAS officer and Divisional Commissioner of the Medinipur range, has been appointed as the new district magistrate of Purba Bardhaman.
The reshuffle also included the transfer of Sana Akhtar, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Purba Bardhaman. Akhtar has been replaced by Prateek Singh, who was serving as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Canning.
Additionally, several officers from flood-affected districts such as Paschim Bardhaman, Howrah, and Hooghly have been reassigned. Subashini E has taken over from Shiraz Daneswar as ADM of Paschim Bardhaman, while Tamil Oviya S and Anuj Pratap Singh have replaced Aditi Chaudhary and Kuhuk Bhishan as ADMs in Hooghly. Divya Murugeshan has replaced Rishin Ismail as ADM of Howrah.
The reshuffle is part of a broader effort to address administrative challenges in districts impacted by the floods.
